In September 2023, nobilia, renowned for its innovative and stylish kitchen solutions, will be treating a select group of designers and showroom dealers to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Germany, offering an opportunity to visit their headquarters showroom and factory in Verl, Germany. Let’s delve into the exciting itinerary of this dream trip.
The Lucky Participants: A Stellar Group of Designers and Showroom Dealers
nobilia chose five talented designers to join this exclusive journey through a contest drawing at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) held in Las Vegas, NV last February. Among these individuals include Gina Hacken, Jennifer Hyman, Kimberly Kerl, Nureed Saeed, and Summer Jensen. Each of these individuals has made a mark in the world of interior design and the kitchen & bath industry. This trip is a perfect chance for them to expand their horizons, gain inspiration from the heart of design innovation, and gain a deeper appreciation for nobilia European Kitchen Furniture.
Immersing in Berlin’s Architectural Marvels
The trip will begin in the vibrant city of Berlin, where the participants will be accommodated right in the heart of Checkpoint Charlie. On the first day, the group will embark on a captivating walking tour titled “From Bauhaus to Futurism: Berlin’s 20th Century Architecture.” This enlightening three-hour tour will cover iconic landmarks like the Bauhaus Archive exterior, Embassy District, Kulturforum (exterior), Potsdamer Platz, Kollhoff Tower, and Felleshus (exterior).
Following the walking tour, the group will experience the charm of Berlin from a different perspective – a one-hour boat tour on the River Spree. The tour provides a unique opportunity to view Berlin’s famous sights and important buildings comfortably from the water.
The day culminated with a delightful dinner at the Berlin TV Tower & Restaurant Sphere, offering a panoramic view of the city’s skyline – a truly memorable experience.
Embracing Bauhaus and Creativity
Day 2 will begin with a visit to the Kunstgewerbemuseum, where the group will have a chance to explore an extensive collection of applied art, design, and industrial design objects. Afterward, the designers will enjoy some free time to shop and explore the Hackeschen Hofe, a beautifully restored courtyard complex filled with shops, boutiques, and art galleries.
In the evening, an exciting “Drink and Draw” activity based on the principles of the Bauhaus school awaits the participants. This activity will allow the designers to unleash their creativity and draw inspiration from the groundbreaking Bauhaus movement, which revolutionized modern design.
A Journey to Verl – Home of nobilia HQ
On the third day, the group will depart Berlin and head to Verl, where nobilia’s headquarters is located. En route, the group will stop in Dessau, where they will visit the famous Bauhaus Dessau, an architectural icon and a UNESCO World Heritage site. If weather permits, they will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Herrenhausen Gardens.
The Royal Gardens in Hanover Herrenhausen are considered to be one of the most beautiful garden parks in Europe. Originating back more than 300 years, they are an expression of garden art in its finest form.
Behind the Scenes of European Kitchen Furniture
Friday marks the most anticipated day of the trip – an entire day dedicated to exploring the world of nobilia European Kitchen Furniture. The day will begin with a visit to the Hettich headquarters, where the participants will enjoy breakfast and a showroom tour, gaining valuable insights into cutting-edge kitchen hardware solutions found within nobilia’s furniture.
Following Hettich, the group will arrive to nobilia for a factory and showroom tour. The participants will be given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process and the craftsmanship that goes into creating some of the most sought-after kitchen designs in the world. The installation academy will offer them further knowledge on nobilia installation techniques and best practices.
The evening will end with a heartwarming farewell dinner with the nobilia team, during which the designers and showroom dealers will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences.
